Developing complex application for next-generation online service

"OSF Global Services helped design a leading-edge technology solution that is the foundation of our revolutionary web 2.0 initiative. Using this solution, we were ble to increase our processing capacity from a couple of hundreds page views per day to millions in less than one year. Their expertise proved very useful in launching our web-based application with robust scalability features and in preparing our debut at the TechCrunch50 conference."

– Jeanine L.K. LeFlore, Founder and CEO, LiveHIT, Inc.

Client

LiveHIT is a web-based start-up company, headquartered in Foster City, CA. The company’s website offers a unique social discovery service that showcases who and what’s hot at the moment across the social web. The site serves its users like a custom GPS system, helping them discover contextually relevant rich media content and people.

Problem

LiveHIT wanted to improve search and discovery by creating user-powered navigation paths to uncover what’s being viewed live at the moment it’s happening. To accomplish this, they needed a platform that could collect and track huge amounts of data, measure how many users are concurrently accessing content and update web content in real time.

Solution

OSF programmers and testers worked on the two main components of the platform – the LiveTAG data collecting module and LiveMAP, the rich-media interface that shows the most viewed content in real time. The platform was designed so that it could be customized on a partner-basis. That means when the platform is integrated with the systems of a partner, it can help them reorganize content on the website and show it to their users in a more meaningful way.

Results

Launched at the 2008 TechCrunch50 conference in San Francisco, the site has signed partnerships with major web publishers in the entertainment area, including Piczo, Topix and Comedy.com.
