On demand ERP system performs significant time and resources optimizations in press publishing industry

“Year by year, this software has kept up to the market requests, mitigating newer distribution problems in the activities of delivery, book-keeping, sale, and subscriptions departments. Without this application it would have been extremely difficult for us to cope with the multitude of problems in press distribution, while it also enabled quick reporting and information for management and governance purposes.”

– Dan Apostolache, Distribution Manager, Publimedia International

Client

SDnet is a Romanian company specializing in IT solutions for the press distribution sector that provide customers with increased business value for their internal management processes.

Problem

To help expand its business and productivity, SDnet wanted to create an integrated system that automated and optimized all distribution and logistics activities. This included order tracking, sales performance and provisioning, and billing and labeling. At the same time, the company wanted to reduce the integration challenges associated with the new system, without adding any technical complexities to its current logistics and financial systems.

Solution

OSF assembled its team of business analysts and people working in the press distribution sector. They performed a full lifecycle analysis of accounting, sales, logistics and distribution processes, as well as management reporting requirements. These results were mapped into business processes and workflows, and then validated with other customers in this sector. The team then developed an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system based on a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) approach that can be accessed via a secure web connection.

Results

The application, which is managed by OSF, has reduced distribution times approximately 60 percent by automating all client, billing and management activities. The automated system has also reduced the dedicated staff required to perform previous activities by up to 50 percent.
